Replacement Not As Good As Original!
Posted by Scott McGee on Nov 27th 2018
Woe is me, I lost my original PerfecDraw, and found after a couple of weeks, I just couldn't stand it anymore. So I bought a replacement. I was delighted to see that it didn't cost as much as the first one. This version is not the same as the original that I lost. This one has a "hex" head, and is lighter in weight, and the shaft itself is not as rigid as the original, tho I think the size is identical. I've found myself worrying that I may have inadvertently bent the shaft, a couple of times.
Don't get me wrong - this is a game changer device. But the original is a 5-star design, and this one is just okay. This remains a MUST HAVE for anyone that smokes cigars!
[REPLY FROM PERFEC CIGAR SOLUTIONS: Thank you for the review Scott. I would like to correct some of your statements. No, the new design is not lighter in weight. Other than the weight of the pocket clip (which has been removed), it is exactly 1.114 grams heavier in fact, because the PerfecDraw has been lengthened by ¼”. The shaft is made of exactly the same surgical 304 stainless steel as the original shaft. However, you are correct when you said it is not as rigid, but that only applies to the blade area, and that is intentional. By changing the design of the blades from 4 wraps in a spiral pattern to four separate rings of blades, I was able to move the blades farther away from each other (spread them out a little) so that there is more room between the blades to collect more tobacco than before, and also far less tendency to clog the blade areas up with tobacco debris during use.
Also, because separate rings cause less torque during manufacturing than the previous spiral pattern, I was able to reduce the diameter of the shaft between the blades by 20%, thereby creating more depth between the blades, resulting in even more room to accumulate tobacco. This does result in slightly less rigidity of the blade portion of the shaft, however that poses no problem. So the bottom line is that the new PerfecDraw is more effective and efficient than the original.
We had numerous requests to make the handle easier to grasp, so now the handle is a hexagon shape. I also lengthened the shaft (and therefore the entire PerfecDraw) by ¼”. This means that if you happen to have a knot of tobacco dead-center in a Churchill cigar, when you insert from both ends, it now overlaps in the middle by ¾” instead of only ¼”, making it more effective at clearing tight knots dead-center in Churchills and double coronas. A little change like this can make a big difference.
We also had numerous requests to remove the pocket clip because some said that the very, very hard spring steel pocket clip had, our could, scratch other accessories (cutters and lighters) in their tool kits. The vast majority never used the pocket clip, and kept the PerfecDraw in their cigar tool kits. So now instead of a pocket clip at the end, the end is removable so that you can more easily clean out any tobacco debris that could inadvertently get up inside the sheath.
As someone whose performed thousands of surgeries, I did not like the chrome coating over the surgical stainless steel of the original version. I’ve never seen a scalpel chrome coated. The surgical stainless steel is a better, more biocompatible surface, so I no longer coat the shaft and blades with the shiny chrome-like surface.
And there were some other improvements based on requests by customers. I think most would agree that it is wise for a company to listen to their customers, which is exactly what I do. I take comments and suggestions very seriously. And I make any advisable changes at each manufacturing of the PerfecDraw.
But again, the construction materials are exactly the same – handle and sheath are still 6061-T heat-hardened aerospace grade aluminum with 25 micron deep anodized hard coat finish. Shaft is still 304 surgical stainless steel.
I hope this explains the changes that were made.
Very best regards,

As the name implies, it's perfect! Higher end, hand rolled cigars can be a little tight with a firm draw at times. This tool enables any cigar to generate a lot of smoke and flavor; key attributes to enjoying any fine cigar.
Just an Awesome Product

I used to use toothpicks to unplug and nub my sticks. Then I read about PerfecDraw on Friends of Habanos website. I knew I needed one and ordered it. It is used as a nubber for all my cigars and helps unplug the tent poles so that they are smokeable. I will never be without my PerfecDraw when I smoke my cigars.
Congratulations for your Winning Cigar Assessory of the Year

Not a surprise to me it was a no brainier, the competition was out of the race before the starters gate was opened.
PerfecDraw is something new, it excites me, it works as advertised, it not another poker, it a smoking pleasure enhancer.
It fixes Draw problems, it fixes plugged Cigars, it find and improves Draw in over packed tight sticks.
This is something ever serious Cigar smoker need, after you use it once or twice your going to order another one, something you can't leave home without.

I've tried a number of cigar "draw tools" over the years, and they all suffer from the same problem:
they open a channel in the cigar body, but it quickly closes when the tobacco swells in the heat and moisture!
Not with PerfecDraw! It creates a channel, but removes some tobacco when withdrawn, so that the channel remains open to allow more smoke to pass through.
Never leave home without it!

This is the greatest accessory to come out for cigars since the lighter. I liked my original perfecdraw so much, I bought 2 more. One to give away is a gift and one to keep as a backup.
Worth Every Penny!

As they say "you get what you pay for". I initially invested in a less expensive and quality draw enhancer tool. It did not work out.... simply enhanced the plug in some/most of the cigars.
The PerfecDraw is an excellent high quality crafted tool that does what it says it will do. I was not educated in how to better the draw on some "plugged" cigars so I watched the online videos which were extremely helpful.
Now that I have the knowledge and hang of how to use the tool I will rarely have to throw out a cigar (some you just can't save). THANKS!
PS Don't get carried away with too many passes, I learned the hard way. The cigar will not be the same.
Works As Advertised

The Perfecdraw is a great tool. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and I’ve already used it twice. It saved my smokes. On one cigar, a single pass opened the draw up enough. Another cigar required a few passes but drew well afterward. The tool pays for itself in saved cigars.
